Happy Hump Day fellas! Short and sweet today. I told you that I simply share with you my daily Style choices. I’m not going to see the same people that I saw yesterday so I’m going to wear yesterday’s outfit again. LoL But with a slight twist. Since it’s a little warmer, I’m simply going to exchange my Top Coat for my Banana Republic Reversible Vest ($40/sale)! It gives the outfit a completely different look & feel. This is why it is so important to purchase Versatile/Interchangeable pieces. It makes you unstoppable! LoL Esta bien. Adios amigos! #Fin.
It’s time for Layering Lesson #2! Today I’m going to show you how to layer with outerwear. I didn’t realize this until today, but I layer outerwear a lot! Typically layering pertains more to shirts, sweaters, cardigans, & blazers, but I tend to layer my outerwear. No harm, but if you’re going to do it…do it right.
I started with the basics. It’s cold outside so I’m actually wearing long johns. LoL A little trick I’ve been doing for years. Undetectable and oh so warm! You wouldn’t have know if I didn’t tell ya’ ;) You’re welcome. Rockin’ my Cole Haan Zerogrand Chukkas ($278) I could have went with the wingtips or Lunargrands, but I wanted a more rugged look, my GAP, tweed dress pants ($20/sale), and my red, Merona, v-neck sweater from Target ($25). A solid look by itself. But let’s take it to another level.
First I reach for my vintage, St. John’s Bay blazer/shawl/cardigan/thinga’ ma’ jiggy’. LoL Seriously, I don’t even know what this is, but I remember purchasing because it was just so unique. I don’t even remember wear I got it, but I think it was in the ATL. The collar eliminates the need for a scarf and the over sized brown buttons are a nice eye catcher. Looks like something that belongs in London. Love it. It’s important that this piece is underneath, because it is the scarf so to speak & it is acting as my suit coat for today.
Next I reach for my GAP Denim Jacket! Perfect outward layer to house the heat of the blazer/cardigan. I’m definitely going to rock this look alone soon, but I want to push the outfit a bit more today. Now normally I pop the collar on this jacket, but I want the blazer/cardigan’s collar to shine so I won’t today. Remember, you want to draw people’s eye to specific details. Not throw it all at them at once. Michaelangelo…not Jackson Poll0ck. $40
Finally I TOP it all off with my favorite Top Coat from Express. Notice how the denim and sweater are barely noticeable, but add so much to the look. Every man needs to own tailored outerwear. You can be dressed like a straight up bum, but if you throw that tailored outerwear over the top…immediate respect. Now here’s a tip: All this outerwear is just as warm as a Bubble Coat layered, BUT together they look 10Xs better! $278
Now, you see how bright the sun is shining today, so let’s do something about these glasses.
Add in my beanie and VOILA! I’m ready to roll!
At ease gentleman. #Fin.
Well, it’s our first snow round these parts and I for one welcome it with open arms! No sunshine though. Nope, not a single drop. It’s so, it’s so…GRAY.
Breaking out some old friends of mine today. My gray, Supras! Haven’t worn these bad boys in at least 2 years, because my style has changed so much. I actually gave away the majority of my Supra collection, leaving me with only 2 pairs. It’s obvious why I kept these. They don’t come off too childish and they look great with gray! They’re not as comfortable as my Cole Haans, but you have to switch it up every now & then. I also love the ruggedness of these kicks. They just fit harsh weather so well. $100
Gray day, gray shoes, gray jeans! I got these gray, Levi’s from Macy’s a few years ago. Definitely one of my favorite pair of jeans. They are super comfortable and have a nice slim silhouette. But, hey, if anyone knows how to construct a nice pair of jeans it’s Mr. Levi. $40
Gray day, gray shoes, gray jeans, gray tee, gray sweater…maybe I’ll start a new Trend!? Better yet, a Staple! It’s like Matte Black for clothing! This is one of my favorite Merona sweaters draped over my favorite, Converse, T-shirt. I call it my “Thor Sweater” because of the seemingly chain metal arms. Plus it has that “Heroic Collar” that ya’ll know I LOVE! #NoScarfZone $30
Top it all off with my Navy, Top Coat from Express and my Gray, Banana Republic vest and you’ve got a deal! LoL “Rock-Hop Tailored” baby! Coat $278 Vest $40 (sale)
Well, time to work your way to work. LoL Good luck and remember, Life isn’t Black & White ;) #Fin.
The rain has left a chill in the air so we want to be warm not hot. Today is another lesson on BALANCE.
Gonna start off with my Cole Haan, Zerogrand Brogues! Always up for the task. $278
Then my American Stitch Joggers from Saks 5th Ave. $40
Now here’s where that “Balance” comes into play. I’m actually rockin’ my favorite tank from The Red Bicycle underneath as my base layer, but no one needs to know that but us. I’m using it for color. Now I could tuck it in and give the outfit a completely different feel, but today I feel like adding a splash of color so I let it hang out. It creates a nice break from the other monotonous colors. The sweater is from the GAP and it is my favorite type of sweater because of the collar. These type of collars are great for cold weather because they double as a scarf. You ‘ll see what I mean shortly. Tank $15 Sweater $10
Then I add my Expressd, navy blue, Top Coat to the mix!
And I’m ready to roll!
Oh rainy DAY…oh rainy daaaaay, OH rainy DAAY! Oh rainy DAAAAAAY! LoL It’s raining cats & dogs out there so one must be prepared to take on Aquaman himself if necessary! So I’m busting out my favorite cape–I mean coat for days such as this!
You’re only as good as your foundation. Especially on slippery days like today. My waterproof, Lunargrand boots are as good as it gets. I always tuck my pants cuffs in when it’s raining. $278
We start with the base layer, which is one of my green V-Neck sweaters that I purchase during GAP‘s Labor Day sale! $10
And finally we add my “Cape!” Or my dad’s army jacket, but WHATEVER! Details right!? LoL You can’t get this bad boy anywhere, but the service. So glad my dad was my size and had a taste for tailoring too! Water just turns and goes the other way when it sees this bad boy! And you wouldn’t believe how deep the pockets are! HECK, they’re ready made for weapons and the coat itself is meant for any harsh terrain so I think I can take on a little water. This is some real HERO S#%T! LoL VINTAGE! $FREE.99
Leave me…there is much that I must ponder upon. #Fin.
Today’s lesson is simple, “KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!” LoL It’s my Wise best friend’s saying and it is TRUE! I’m just running a few errands today so I don’t need much. It’s warm, but the Fall breeze is in the air so one must be mindful of that.
My black/white Zerogrands are definitely my daily drivers. They match all and are perfect for every match. Doing a lot of running so these are def’ a must for today. $278
Grabbed my black, Moto jeans by En Noir from the GAP! Nothing says City Slicker like a pair of Moto jeans! These are special from the GAP/GQ Collection! En Noir is one of 4 chosen designers for what they consider to be “The best menswear designers in America!” I have a few more items that I’m eyeing from this designer and that collection. $80
Well, don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Later. #Fin.
