“If we can’t protect the planet…then you better be damn well sure we’ll AVENGE it!”
Posting this late because I had Food Poisoning on this night. I guess evil really was trying to stop me? But no matter. The night was all about accessories, so as you can see, I’m not wearing much, in the way of clothes, but my accessories bring it all together. I missed Thursday night all together, but I’m back in action tonight so stay tuned for the next post which should be arriving shortly. “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
Today I decided to break out some old friends! My Radii boots! I love these boots, but I’m just not a fan of the clicking noise they make when walking. Sounds like a chic wearing heels. So I don’t wear them often, but today I’m going to be in dirty auto shops while I search for a new wheel to replace my damaged one from the aftermath of the recent ice storms. It’s also raining, so I don’t have to worry about getting these bad boys dirty. They’re comfortable, stylish, & durable. You can’t beat that. Also, I rarely rock hats except for when it rains, but I bought 2 hats yesterday that I plan to use for more than rain. As I become more comfortable in my Personal Style I’m starting to venture out. The 2 hats make a distinctive statement about who I am. I love comics, but as far as comics & clothing go, I’ve never been a fan, but I’m starting to find cool ways to merge them. Generally I find comics inspired clothing to be too daunting. I’m more low key, but the hats I bought work for 2 reasons: 1. They FIT well and 2. They don’t overwhelm. The Voltron head actually reminds me of the Chicago Bulls logo. Maybe that’s why it works so well? My Spring/Summer Style plans to be SIMPLE. So my attention will fall on the accents or details. A nice lid, like this one, or my shoes…or a nice Rosary like these red ones I picked up from the store today and added to this gallery. And finally I bought new draws! LoL Men, you should replace your undergarments every Spring. Just trust me on this one. I’m trying Haynes’ new tagless, moisture resistant product. Here’s to Simplicity & good hygiene! . “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
BOOTS: Radii $100 | PANTS: Express Alec Quilted Moto Denim Skinny Jeans $120 | SHIRT: Haynes $12 | JACKET: Target by Merona $30 | HAT: VOLTRON!
Everyone has fashion, some have style, but very few have Personal Style. It’s not something that can be achieved quickly. No, rather it must be treated like a fine wine. Today’s post is mainly about…the hat.
I heard there was rain in the forecast so I’m rockin my Lunargrand Chukkas! This is the 1st time you’re seeing me rock them with shorts. You have to have the right balance to pull it off. Got these on sale at the Cole Haan Factory Store awhile back! $50
The t-shirt is Mossimo from Target ($12) and these shorts are another steal from the Labor Day sale at The GAP! You’ve seen the navy ones. $12
The most beautiful part of Men’s Style to me is the CHARACTER it requires. Our pieces get better with time. They become a reflection of our lives. War Wounds if you will. Men are all about showing off & comparing scars. It’s no different when it comes to Fashion. The more worn & tattered a piece becomes the better. The way it Wears reflects your lifestyle. Take my hat for example: I’ve had this hat for almost a decade now. I got it from Express years ago. I loved how the plaid & brown design matched everything! Still does, which is why I still have it. I also bought it out of necessity, because you know how I hate umbrellas. But as time passed it went from my centerpiece to my gym hat. LoL So for the last few years I’ve been searching for a hat to take its place, but to no avail. Here’s the irony; after trying it on with a couple of fits and comparing it to other hats…I’m wearing again! I’m not ashamed of it! It’s like a favorite t-shirt or jeans, it has CHARACTER! It reflects my active lifestyle and sense of Style. You see part of what makes my Style so unique is that I don’t adhere to one culture. I pull from SEVERAL! My Style is very Motley to say the least. But I do it in a way that goes undetected without scrutiny. I remember how Country, “White” boys who loved to hunt would rock old beat up hats in high school, which is the opposite of how Hip-Hop, “Black” culture does things. It’s all about crispness & newness. A New Era cap, for example, which still has the tags on it. You see while I don’t crease & bend my cap (Hip-Hop) I don’t mind the wear & tear (Country). Together you get my Personal Style.
So don’t repair every tear, or wash every stain…It’s all a part of what makes you who you are. After all, “Nobody’s perfect.” 😉 #JPSKILLZStyleTip
