The JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day!

I absolutely LIKE the Transitional Seasons!  Slight layering, Sleek Jackets….I could go on and on, but we don’t have much time so I’ll get to the point.  You can take 3 simple pieces and be more than ready for anything the day throws at you.  A light cardigan for the morning chill, T-Shirt for the mid-day heat,, and a sleek jacket for…well…isn’t it obvious?  LoL 😉  “LIVE ABOVE IT!”

SHOES: Cole Haan Zerogrand Wingtips $300 | PANTS: Express Khaki Joggers $40 (Sale) | T-SHIRT: Haynes $12 Pack | CARDIGAN: Target by Merona Zip-Up Cardigan $25 | JACKET: Express (Minus the Leather) Quilted Moto Jacket $230

The JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day!

Happy Monday dudes!  Sorry, I guess the Spring Sun has got me feelin’ like I’m a surfer on the California Beach!  LoL  But it is definitely warmer today so today’s fit doesn’t require much.  This is why it’s important to have not only Joggers in the traditional Sweats make up, but also in lighter fabrics like Khaki.  The same goes for my Blazer.  I bought this in the Fall, but I went with this lighter Polyester on purpose so that it would transition well into the hotter days.  And I have retired the Long John’s so that the Khaki’s can breathe.  You see this is the genius of Layering.  You can control your temperature by the amount of layers you put on.  This is also why you don’t buy “ONE OFFS!”  You buy things that can be mixed & matched in any season for any reason!  Alright fellas…”LIVE ABOVE IT!”

SHOES: Cole Haan Zerogrand Wingtip (Suede) $300 | PANTS: Express Khaki Joggers $80 | SHIRT: Haynes V-Neck T $12 Pack | BLAZER: Target by Mossimo $60

The JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day!

Today I decided to break out some old friends!  My Radii boots!  I love these boots, but I’m just not a fan of the clicking noise they make when walking.  Sounds like a chic wearing heels.  So I don’t wear them often, but today I’m going to be in dirty auto shops while I search for a new wheel to replace my damaged one from the aftermath of the recent ice storms.  It’s also raining, so I don’t have to worry about getting these bad boys dirty.  They’re comfortable, stylish, & durable.  You can’t beat that.  Also, I rarely rock hats except for when it rains, but I bought 2 hats yesterday that I plan to use for more than rain.  As I become more comfortable in my Personal Style I’m starting to venture out.  The 2 hats make a distinctive statement about who I am.  I love comics, but as far as comics & clothing go, I’ve never been a fan, but I’m starting to find cool ways to merge them.  Generally I find comics inspired clothing to be too daunting.  I’m more low key, but the hats I bought work for 2 reasons: 1. They FIT well and 2. They don’t overwhelm.  The Voltron head actually reminds me of the Chicago Bulls logo.  Maybe that’s why it works so well?  My Spring/Summer Style plans to be SIMPLE.  So my attention will fall on the accents or details.  A nice lid, like this one, or my shoes…or a nice Rosary like these red ones I picked up from the store today and added to this gallery.  And finally I bought new draws! LoL Men, you should replace your undergarments every Spring. Just trust me on this one. I’m trying Haynes’ new tagless, moisture resistant product. Here’s to Simplicity & good hygiene! .  “LIVE ABOVE IT!”

BOOTS: Radii $100 | PANTS: Express Alec Quilted Moto Denim Skinny Jeans $120 | SHIRT: Haynes $12 | JACKET: Target by Merona $30 | HAT: VOLTRON!

JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day!

image

Happy Monday, or should I say New Day! I was thinking this morning, as I often do LoL, Style not only has to be Tailored to your body, it has to be Tailored to your day. This is what truly gives a person Personal Style. I say this, because I didn’t post my usual #FotoshootFriday Friday. I just did not get around to it. So I was thinking about just using it this Friday. Who would know the difference? Right? Well, then I thought, if the weather is different, it won’t make sense. So you see Personal Style depends on these 2 important variables.

JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day: Labor Day Edition

image

Gotta get up, get out, and get something! It’s Labor Day, not to be confused with Memorial Day or Independence Day, the 3 of which I have always thought to be the same day just split into 3 so that people have an excuse to drink, grill, swim, and RELAX! But the days do have different meanings and characters to them. It’s also infamously the last day to wear white which has lost its power really. I feel that Labor Day Is all about relaxing from laboring hence “Labor Day. ” So style wise I always try to just relax.

image

From my relaxing “Ones“….

image

image

image

To my relaxing jeans

image

image

To my relaxing T-shirt

image

It’s all about RELAXING! The key is to find a few not so relaxed “EXCESSories.”

image

image

image

And what better EXCESSories than shades and a SUPER belt!? This is one of my favorites! Don’t even remember where I got it, but it’s always an attention grabber. It’s just very regal and looks handmade. You get a sense of medieval times. I LOVE IT! Style wise it breaks up the monotony of the white. Not necessary, but this was my choice for today. I could have went without it and been even more relaxed.

image

Well, I’m off to find some sales. Happy Labor Day! #JPSKILLZStyleTip

The pants are from Forever 21. They were a part of the Heritage 1981 collection. Got em’ about 3 years ago. Before Jumpers were in. Loved the low crotch area. Reminds me of the good ol’ Hammer days. LoL They’re perfect for adding some flare to a simple outfit. I could have just went with regular Khakis, but where’s the fun in that? They come with the roll so they keep you COOL & are perfect for low tops. $30

Nothing to see here, just a normal Haynes, white T’. But paired with a nice jacket it becomes a staple. $15 for a pack.

The jacket is also from the Heritage 1981 collection. It’s like a Members Only jacket so it’s cool enough for the heat. But obviously you can transition from AC rooms to outside Saunas. LoL $30

Finally, today I want to add something different that is often overlooked, but is essential to Style. The Hair Cut. How you rock your hair, facially & up top, matters. Fro’ Hawk = Edgy, Ceasar = Reserved and so on. Not every Hair Style works for you. It has to fit your Personal Style & your head shape. LoL But don’t be afraid to experiment. I have found that low around the sides & back fits my Head Shape & Style the best. I have a long face, but strong muscles on the side of my head. LoL So more up top looks better at least in my Personal Opinion. It’s called a Hair STYLE For a reason. The 5 o’clock shadow is in right now so, that is what it is. I love it! It’s a uniquely male trait & I’m all about Manliness! So MAN UP! LoL FYI no one has touched my head but me in over a decade! If you can do it yourself you can save money and more importantly TIME! And a pushed back hairline. Can’t stand looking like Lebron after leaving the barbershop! SMH Although I do miss the conversations/arguments! “There they go! There they go! Dat’s they one! Dat’s they one! Every time a black man mention Muhammed Ali a white man bring up Rocky Marceona!” LOL That’s a famous Eddie Murphy line from Coming to America if you are from another planet.

Oh and the Aviator shades add to the militant look. Okay I’m late, gotta’ roll! See ya’ll next time! #JPSKILLZStyleTip

JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day!

image

Hideeho neighbors! LoL I don’t even know how to spell that word, but hell, do you!? Anyway, today I’ll be very busy with meetings but the catch is I need to be casual yet respectfully professional so let’s boogie!

image

What do we start with? THAT’S RIGHT! You’ve been listening! The kicks! The Nike Lunar Flyknit Chukka (My “Ones”) are smooth! And by “smooth” I mean the cut of the shoe allows them to sorta morph to whatever style you see fit! I’m a huge fan of thick white soles because they create an excellent silhouette if you will. Athletic shoes don’t have to be so… Athletic. Plus the less going on up top (the upper) the better! I love Hip-Hop, but basketball shoes belong on the court, but hey that’s just me. That’s why people had such a hard time believing I played/play ball. $200

image

Every man needs a solid pair of blue jeans! Go dark first because it’s more VERSATILE. Then stonewash comes later, but they take a bit more finess and for this look I want to lean more towards professional. The jeans are Express. Fellas… I don’t how else to say it so I’ll just say it… BAGGY IS OUT! LoL Even thugs are tailored now. Here’s my secret: I buy skinny jeans (not super, but regular) and I go up about a size or 2, depends on the fit of the jeans. And then there is the length. Now this is seemingly unimportant, but this is critical because this determines how your jeans fall which dictates your look. I go with 30 now as opposed to the 32 that I use to because as my style has become more tailored I like a slim silhouette. The longer the jean the more, shall we say, BAGgage you have. And we don’t want baggage
… do we? $80

image

image

Finally a V-Neck T, I only rock Haynes (MJ), along with my GRAY jacket from Saks 5th Ave. This jacket is brilliant because it’s not blue jean but you rock it like one and it’s much cooler (literally)! The cut falls above the waist which feeds into the modern trend of shortened jacket/coat length. I call it the “Hero Cut!” because all heroes rock super jackets without fail. Think Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) or Fast & Furious (Vin Diesel). But the coolest part is that they can replace the Suit Coat. A Suit Coat would completely change this look. But try replacing your Suit Coat look with a Biker Jacket, let me know what you come up with. $75

Well that’s it. Time to go conquer the world! See ya’ next time. #JPSKILLZStyleTip
