Welcome to “Street Suit” part 2! If you were with us during the last Style Tip then you know that this is the same outfit just organized in a different color. The garments are different, but the pieces to the puzzle are the same. Just take that rain jacket and rock it like you would a Blazer & replace those slacks with a nice pair of jeans. Don’t forget to make sure that the tie hits just above the belt buckle (This is the same belt from SS1, just in reverse) and because common sense ain’t common, you match your belt to your shoes. Oh and if you are a male then chances are you know that when it comes to finding the Holy Grail that is the perfect White Dress Shirt, the struggle is REAL! LoL However, I am definitely impressed with this one. A nice slim fit, comfortable fabric, & the collar which is shorter/thinner than the average, has proven to be a good look. I actually had some one tell me, “NICE SUIT” today! So mission accomplished 😉 “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
BOOTS: Cole Haan Lunargrand Boots $300 l JEANS: GAP En Noir Moto Jeans $80 l SHIRT: Express No Button Dress Shirt $30 l TIE: Macy’s by M151 $10 l BELT: Ross $12 l JACKET: Target by Converse $40
HAPPY MONDAY FELLAS’! Spring is here! And he is extremely welcome! Thank you Mother Nature…well thank God, but I digress. With Spring comes rain so today I’m going to show you how to replace that Blazer with a nice Rain Jacket instead. I call it a “Street Suit.” Weatherproof boots for the rain, Moto Jeans, Oxford, Skinny Tie, & Rain Coat. Just like your traditional suit, but with untraditional pieces 😉 KOBE! And don’t forget guys, let the tie hit just above your belt buckle. “LIVE ABOVE IT!
BOOTS: Cole Haan Lunargrand Boots $300 l JEANS: Express Alec Quilted Super Moto Skinny Jeans $120 l BELT: ROSS $12 l SHIRT: Banana Republic Oxford $25 (SALE) l TIE: Macy’s by M151 $10 l JACKET: Target by Merona $30
My formal days are beginning to look a lot like my informal days and for me…this is a good thing! The Athlete meets the Gentleman! I LIKE IT! “The Comvertable Gentleman” is in full effect! I’m Layering 3 Jackets today! The KEY is to have a nice light Base Layer, a solid mid-range Transition Layer, and a nice Tailored Top Layer! Started with my Black/White, Cole Haan Zerogrand Wingtips ($278), then my Navy, Banana Republic Joggers ($40 SALE), my Sean Jean Crew Neck T-Shirt from Ross ($10 SALE), my Nike Running Dri-Fit ($10 SALE), next there’s the 3 jackets: My Nike Track Jacket ($20 SALE), my Nike Golf Jaket ($30 SALE), and my Navy, Express Top Coat ($278). “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
Today I’ll be very mobile so I wanted something Comfortable. Last year I coined the phrase, “Comvertable Gentleman.” Well, this is what it’s all about. Rockin’ my Gray, Cole Haan Zerogrand Wingtip shoes ($278), my Black, American Stitch Joggers from Saks Off 5th Ave ($40 SALE), I layered the look with my White, Sean Jean Crew Neck T’ from Ross ($10 SALE), Gray, Converse T’ from Target ($12), and my Red, V-Neck Merona Sweater ($20). The Key is to Layer T-Shirts. We generally don’t think about Layering T-Shirts, but you can! And it makes for a nice look. It creates a nice pattern around the neck and it’s great for Joggers. If you can, have the bottom T’ be a bit longer than the top. To finish this look I threw on my Royal Blue, Nike Golf Coat ($20 SALE). This made for a really nice Contrast! Just call me SUPERMAN! “LIVE ABOVE IT!”
I’m a boss I said, tip my hat and I cross my legs. LoL I don’t wear ties often, but when I do…
You know the drill. Fresh pair of Zerogrands. I use to rock certain fits with a tennis shoe that had a thick white sole, but that has been replaced with these! Same effect, more refined. Every man needs a black shoe with a white sole. $278
For the pants, one can’t go wrong with the Express Photographer pants. Never know when you may have a shoot fellas…if you know what I mean? $50
Then of course there is the shirt, tie, and vintage, leather, bomber jacket! The tie is M151, Macy’s, the shirt is an Oxford from Banana Republic, and the bomber is courtesy of my grandfather, Lord rest his soul. Thanks pops! He had plenty of Style just like me. As if you can’t tell. LoL Every man also needs a decent bomber. You can substitute your suit coat with it. Free-your-mind Neo. LoL I prefer to let the Tie hang loose and I never button my top button, Personal Style…remember? Tie $10 Oxford $30 Bomber $Priceless (Remember, Men’s fashion is about Character. The older the better.)
And finally don’t forget the EXCESSORIES! A nice clean belt and watch really complete the look. Now you’re ready for the office or to fight aliens, which ever comes first. Belt (Ross) $12 Watch (Kenneth Cole) $150
I’ll holla. #Fin.
Happy Monday gentleman! Look alive! Monday comes with its own struggles, but Style shouldn’t be one of them. I make it a point to be fresh on Monday. I believe it just helps one to get motivated. Colors are a large part of Mood.
Black, Lunargrand boots are my launch pad! Usually a dark shoe & light pants shorter pant is very shortening, but gray is in the dark family as well as the light. That’s why it’s considered the middle ground. So it actually works quite well. $200
The pants are the gray version of the white Levi’s I wore in a previous post. Got them both on the same day! I wish I had went with a shorter length, but they fit well and give me some variety which is always good. Got em’ from Macy’s on sale! $30
Now. Let’s talk shirt & details. The shirt is Express…SIIIIKE! LoL It’s actually from Forever 21! a part of the Heritage 1981 collection! Remember, “It doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to look that way!” The yellow really picks the Mood of the outfit up and the cut of the stitching is perfect for Nashville! I call it, “TAILORED COUNTRY!” LOL $20 The tie is from Macy’s as well, it’s M151 and it’s a Super Skinny Tie $10. While the belt is from Ross and is reversible. Remember, “every man needs a black and brown belt $12. The key to the tie is making sure it stops just above the belt buckle and right on top of the button. Why would you cover the focal point of your outfit? No need to have a gaudy center piece either fellas. The huge belt buckle has came and GONE! LoL Keep it simple.
Welp! See you tomorrow! Ya’ll come back now, ya hear!? #JPSKILLZStyleTip
