The JPSKILLZ Style Tip of the Day! : L A Y E R L E S S O N #4

Today’s fit is about Layering!  Once again, Layering with Cardigans is a slick look if you know how to Balance it out.  Today I started with my Black/White Zerogrand Wingtips ($278) and my Stonewash BR Skinny Jeans ($40).  This made for a nice, cool contrast.  I stuck with this color theme for the rest.  I’m Layering my Zip-Up, Merona Cardigan ($25) with my Button-Up, GAP Shawl Cardigan ($10 SALE).  I topped it off with my Mossimo Blazer ($70) and created a nice, clean, warm look!  Of course my Express Top Coat ($278) was the outermost Layer.  The buttons vs the zipper creates a nice contrast.  “LIVE ABOVE IT!”

Of course we must start with the shoes. It’s raining again so my brown, Cole Haan, Lunargrand Boots are perfect! “Hell or High Water! ” $278

My BRG Urban Outfitters, skinny jeans will do just fine. Stonewash me! $40

And now for the layering! For my base layer I’m rockin a black tank (unseen armour), then there’s my brown, GAP, V-Neck sweater. Labor Day Sale $10! Not too heavy, but still warm. I go with a small now instead of medium. More of a tailored fit. You want to keep your garments close to your body. It’s better for warmth & layering.

My Grey, rain proof, Biker Jacket from Saks 5th Ave, is more than reliable as my 3rd layer. This is the layer responsible for keeping me dry. It’s light so I want burn up in the process. $100

Top it all off with a sturdy vest. My Merona Vest from Target is perfect! Once again, keep it SLIM! That’s the key. This layer is responsible for keeping me warm, but it’s not a cotton vest so water won’t weigh me down. $40

“Keep it simple stupid.” a philosophy that works in the design world as well as fashion.

Rockin my brown, Lunargrand Boots! An excellent companion for stonewash. But I’m not tucking the pants in for more of a low key, formal look. $200

Today I have more meetings and that means that I need to be semi-professional but functional. It’s also pretty hot out there so… yeah.

image

Rockin’ my brown Lunargrands today! Always appropriate no matter the occasion! Hell they make every occasion special! LoL Switching it up with the laces though. The bright laces make the fit a bit more upbeat. You don’t want to do too much up top though when rockin’ the not so subtle laces. $200

image

My stonewash, and remember stonewash isn’t for amatuers  fellas’,BCG jeans from Urban Outfitters. Rollin’ the cuff to ventilate the look! Ha! I like that, “ventilate.” remember, not too high, not too low. $30

image

Finish it off with a Mossimo T’ from Target & we’re good to go! Neutral tone to play along with the brown and downplay the neon accents. It’s all about balance not necessarily coordination as “Pops” would have you believe. $12
